Buying a Used Snow Blower and NEED HELP!!

I live in MA and am buying my first snowblower, so i don't know much about them. I have a 4 car paved, flat driveway with a walkway to my front door, I'm looking to spend about $250-$300 tops. My shed is in my backyard, so i'm guessing i'll be storing it covered outside (is this ok?). Can someone please give me some general advice on this, as to what i shoudl be looking for in a snowblower (HP, age, etc..)? are there certain brands (toro/ariens)that i should be trying to find. looks like there's a lot of machines on craigslist in this price range. any help would be appreciated. Also what types of questions should i be asking the owners of these snowblowers?

buy a name machine, this would be a toro, ariens, snapper, simplicity, honda. you will be able to get parts and service for these machines. these machines are built to last just short of forever. freind bought a 25 year old simplicity two years ago and it works (after a tune up and new belts) as well as my 4 year old ariens. good luck
ope: ariens 8524, winco 8kw - b/s vanguard v twin, little giant 5 hp b/s, stihl br-650the difference between smart and stupid is stupid knows no bounds
