No gas noise at all. does that mean it's just blocked.

when u go to light the pilot, u have to turn and depress a knob. last night i was getting a blue falme that would not stay once unpressed the switch, so yes, some gas must be getting to it

Solara- I have a Burnham also.Mine has lighting instructions inside on the front cover. It gives you step by step directions to for pilot lighting. Does yours have this ? Are you following it  ? It could be spider eggs or your not holding it long enough to heat up. Either way I think you should call Keyspan and let them take a look. - Kris

krislu, your suggestion did it. i cleaned out the pilot w/ a paper clip, voila gas flowed and pilot lit.

(yes i do have the directions and did follow them religiosly)

However, and there always is a however, chris (or anyone else) how stong / noisy is your plot light when the burner is not firing? the pilot flame  slightly noisy and a little fiesty. could i have streched out the orifice?

Solara- No you didn't stretch out the orifice. I suspect though that you didn't get all of the spider eggs or crud that was blocking the gas flow. It might have to be taken apart to be thoroughly cleaned. As I have said earlier this is what happens when you turn off the pilot at the season end. Leave it on all year long and you won't have this problem.  - Kris

krisl nd jubol, thanx. glad to hear that i did not stretch the orifice. i think i wil have keyspan do a tuneup. at least it will be a tuneup  and not a repair

Toasty warm, Solara.
