Replacing primer bulb on Tecumseh
Original Message   Aug 29, 2007 2:32 am
What's the best way to do this (Repair Novice).  Old bulb has deteriorated into a blob of rubber.  From the picture of the replacement part it looks like there is a ring (welch plug) that comes with the bulb.    Can I use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the old one, place the new bulb in place and then push in the new ring....Is that all there is to it?

Rohey.

You have the right idea. You can use a screwdriver too pry out the old retainer and remains of the old bulb.

Just push the new ring in with a deep 3/4" socket too seat it. (dont bang on it or it will bend the tabs.

The tool that denis is showing you is for Briggs and won't do dick for your Tecumseh carb.

Hoops! yeah butt your right I just noticed that it was a tecumseh in the title. So far it's easy to remove then like you mention. Those rubber bulb become like old bubble gum after years gazoline is so strong, they eat it.
