Something's wrong with my new snowblower
Original Message   Apr 27, 2007 3:32 am
I bought a new Ariens 11.5 hp deluxe snowblower in Feb.  It worked wonderfully during the two snows we had after I bought it.  Both times I used the electric start to get it going.  It started right up and ran strong.  This week I wanted to move it from my garage to my shed and tried to start it using the pull cord.

I checked the oil, put the throtle in the start position, pumped the primer a few times, slowly pulled the cord until I felt resistance and then let it rewind...then I pulled it firmly.  I pulled about a foot and a half of the starting cord out when it snaped back hard towards the engine.  I pulled it again and the same thing happened except this time it pulled back so hard that it broke the plastic mitten grip handle in half.  I'm left holding half of the handle in my hand.  This just isn't normal.

Any idea what's wrong and if so...is it an easy fix that a weekend handiman like myself should tackle?  It has a Tecumseh Snow King engine.  I know that it's under warranty but the machine is too heavy for me to transport myself to the dealer and their pick-up fee is $65.

Paul, this situation had happened to me a few years ago, check the ignition timing, if its gap point adjust them to the specification , if its electronic  there must be something wrong with it.
