Ariens Engine Swap Feedback

I have a early 1970's Ariens with a 6hp tecumseh. It needs a new carb. After doing some research on other posts I have seen a very nice engine swap with a 7.5hp briggs and stratton. Looks like the chute crank rod needs to be modified but other wise fairly straight forward job. Besides my carb issues the Ariens is in very good shape and has served me well for many years. So would you spend 85 bucks on a new carb and go with the old tec or 300 bucks and get a new engine?

go for the briggs ...I am a big fan of briggs motors {there the best} tecumshe are good but pound to pound they dont match up to briggs ..And for 300.00 and if your a do-it-yourself guy you can rebuilt the whole motor , just look around for deals {and if you live in the states the more power to you }I live in canada and order my kits for the states and still save.shop around and briggs & stratton motors never die
too many to keep track of
