should i drain fuel, and replace with fresh ? other tips ? i replaced plug already. will pull start when warm.

How long has the fuel been in the machine? Chances are it's old and needs changing. I think it starts with the electric start because the engine turns over faster than it does when you pull start it. Another thing to check is the carb. adjustment. It may need adjusting. When you get it running add a little fuel additive to help flush out the system of any residual crud.

  i would change fuel and clean carb,  but also check compression.  valves may not be closing.

talked to two delaers in the area. they said as long as it runs good when started, then the fuel isnt the problem. i replaced the plug with a new ez-start champion which on the back of the packaging states it replaces J19LM. checked the gap, put it in, pushed primer once, pulled it twice and it started fine. will monitor. i think last year it hardly was used (live in western new york area), and this year the first time i used it was Jan 23rd !! the little honda 521 starts fine and is used for small stuff.
