air compressor help engine swap. Original Message Sep 25, 2006 6:23 pm
In my prior post, I was looking for a honda clone engine. however, now I am thinking that I may be able to use a tecumseh h-70 that i have lying around instead. I have an older rol-air compressor. It is basicall just a small engine that has a belt drive to a pump to fill the tanks. The tecumseh will bolt right on and the pulley will line up perfectly. The only issue, is that the compressor has a idle control mechanism that makes the engine idle down when the tank is full and idle up when the tank gets low. If I use the tecumseh rather than the honda engine that was intended, I wont be able to use this. I am not super farmiliar with compressors and I dont know if this would be a very bad thing. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated.

Judging from the size of the tanks you need the automatic throttle. If you try to do it manually then you will probably overcharge the tanks on a regualr basis which is not a good thing..
You can somtimes adjust the height of the engine by using a mounting plate that is a different thickness.
