Hi all,
I have a 2-stroke Weed Eater trimmer that I have not been able to start this season. It's about 4 years old, it was running great last season when I put it away. Before storing it I drained the gas tank and ran it at full throttle till it ran out of gas - that was the last time it ran.
I've replaced the spark plug and the unit has good spark. I've replaced the fuel filter and tested the fuel flow TO the carb - all OK. It's got properly mixed fresh gasoline/oil in the tank. From what I can tell when I pull the cord it seems to have good compression. It won't fire at all unless I squirt a bit of gas/oil in the carb throat, then it only runs for 5-10 seconds till the gas in the throat runs out. I've had the carb mostly apart, it was dry - so even though I've got lots of fuel in the tank the fuel is somehow not making it into the carb itself. It's as if I have an "air-lock". Even though the carb looked clean I used carb-cleaner, no ports or orifices seemed blocked. I'm stumped...
Anyone ever seen this before? What could be wrong? I don't have a large lawn so it's not like the unit has had a lot of use and could be worn out.
TIA for the replies,
Daryl S.
