Is there a simple contraption available to siphon gas out of a snowthrower tank?  My thoughts were to transfer gas from the snow thrower to my portable tank used for the lawn mower.  Also, I briefly read either here (or somewhere) about a product that treats old gas stored from the previous winter so that it can be used without damaging the carburetor/engine.  I think I would rather remove/transfer gas to the lawnmower.  Here in New England, it's not unsual to be removing snow and then mow the lawn within a few weeks of each other.

Lubrication:  What's out there to apply grease to the auger fittings?

Thanks John.  I hadn't thought about pouring leftover gas into my van.  It's a thirty gallon tank and I guess a small quantity of old gas, a quart or so, would become diliuted and I assume harmless.

I've read that Pri-G ( Gas) and Pri-D ( diesel) are pretty good at revitalizing old fuel. They are also supposed to act as a stabilizer and improve gas economy. There has been discussion about this before so a search migh help. I tend to do both things, Pri-G in the tank and then dump the tank into the van at the end of  a season. That includes lawn mower gas, chainsaw  and out boards as well. Basically rotate your fuel inventory and try to empty out the tank and run dry any machine that is going into storage.

On most Tecumseh engines it's easy to disconnect the fuel line at the bottom of the tank.

Don't use the fuel for your mower. Throw it in your car. The winter mix is different.

I use Stabil or PRI-G on the fuel before I put it in the thrower - I add it right at the gas station when I buy the gas.

Go buy a turkey baster. Long plastic tube with rubber bulb at
the top. Squeeze bulb,stick in tank,suck up the old gas-repeat till empty.
Put old gas in car or truck.Gets diluted down pretty good.
