Ariens slow to throw snow
Original Message   Feb 26, 2006 2:41 pm

I have an Ariens 824 (2002 or so)  and recently have been having troubles with the auger/impeller.  Once the machine is started, if I try to blow snow, the machine will bogg down.  (It doesn't matter the ammount or type of snow.)  Once the auger system has been engaged for a while, things seem to work normally.  Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Does bog down mean you maintain forward speed and engine rpm but lose throwing distance? Sounds like your drive belt needs adjustment or replacement. Theyre are two: the forward belt drives the impeller, the rear belt drives the tractor. Adjustment instructions should be in the Owner's Manual, available online if you don't have it.

Bogg down, as in throwing distance is reduced.  The forward movement/rpms of the machine remain unchanged.  I'll check the belts.  thanks for the advice.

You may just need to adjust the idler pulley to apply more tension.
