Tec 120v starter What is the difference between 33329D and 37105
Original Message   Feb 18, 2006 8:57 am
I just found a toro 1232 in fantastic condition.  I am looking to put a 120V starter on it and in searching the net before going to a local dealer, i found that there are 2 starters that may go to this unit.  What is the difference between these two and which one is the correct one?

Toro has thier own part number for the starter of 38039.  The motor on this is a OHSK120 223620A.  That specific number has 2 variants of the gas tank, i have the square one if it makes a difference.

Also if there is a dealer that checks this out, i am looking for the light kit for this machine, part number 66-7941, throw me an email if you have one on your shelf collecting dust so i wont have to special order one that "may" come in.

Thanks, Jason

noreaster   here we go.  tecumseh calls for a part number 37000 starter  which supercedes to part number   33329E.  as for the toro number they want you to buy from them.  the cost would be about the same  140.00.  we happen to be a toro and tecumseh dealer  and we just happen to buy from tecumseh because i get a better discount from them.   the lite kit will run you about 120.00      chris

Thank you very much for the info Mech12.  The more i searched, the more part number revs i found for that starter.   Looks like i could take the 33329D starter off my Ariens ST824 Deluxe and put it on the toro.

I am going to hold off on the light kit until after i try this thing in the snow,  My ariens never clogs, but my neibors old toro clogs somethign fierce in the slushy stuff.  I am hopeing the powershift model is a little more resistent to cloging as i love the powershift feature.

Does anyone know of a site that lists engine specs?  I am specifically wondering what the recommended goverend RPM is for this motor after reading that other thread. (the rpm sounds lower than the ariens)

Thanks, Jason

Ok i just hooked up a sendec tach/hourmeter,  i am getting an idel of around 1900rpm and full throttle at 3380 rpm.   Am i just way under rpm? Does toro set it at 3300 for a reason (the old service manual for the power shift seems to have all the motors set at 3300 +- 150)?

I am tempted to see what this thing does at 4750 rpm but am scared to jump to 5500.

sorry   i am all confused.     i think the dislexia is kicking in.    3600 is maxx,   set now at 3300,  toro service manual for models 10 years older than this say to set at 3300.  i ment to ask if 3400 or 3500 would scre up the machine.

Sorry for the overexcitemnt   dont know why i was thinkig 6000 was mox not 3600.   6grand on a small engine, that would be interesting.

no you wont screw anything up.   you need to go with tecumseh' recomendation which is 3600 max.  we run them at 3580 full power no load.  your idle sounds ok  .ill  try and find a link to tec.
