Adjusting a carb for high altatude 9,200 Feet
Original Message   Feb 4, 2006 7:52 pm
Hello All,

This is my first post and hopefully my last stop.  I just bought a snowblower, a Ariens ST 1032 / 10 HP 4 Cycle.  I don't know to much about adjustments on the carb.  The elevation I live at is 9,200 Feet above sea level.  When I started the snowblower up at the buyers house ."6,000 Feet, it was fine."  I got to my cabin and started it up and it sounded like it was bogging down after running it for a bit.  Through internet searching I have found that the carb has two adjustments?  One spring screw under neath and one on the side.  I don't know which dose which or where to start.  I think I have screwed with it a little to much and would like to know how I can set both back to a netural spot and start over.  Please help as I have lot's of snow to blow....

Thanks

Ryan K

check out this PDF file (you need Adobe Acrobat Reader) it includes service information for snowblower engines and non-snowblower engines.

Thanks both for the info.  I set both the main and the idle setting back to the pre-set and went from there.   Everything works fine now and I got the driveway done which had around 35-40 inches on it.  The ST-1032 did the job.  I have heard that there is some sort of cutter attachment for cutting through snow drifts?  If I can see some specs on it I might be able to make them myself.  Thanks for the help.

Polish,

Go to Lowes, buy a piece of steel, 2 in's wide x 4 feet long and 1/8th thick.

Cut in half, grind corners round, drill holes to match auger housing sides.

Then paint and install with carrige bolts and wing nuts!!

Cost about $10.00!!!

Polish,

I also painted 2 tennis $#%* Day Glo  Orange, cut slits in them and put them over the tips.

Did it just for safety reasons, did not want to fall on a dull spear!!
