My chute has the same 2 holes located at the same angle with the distance between them being 3 1/8 " The bottom of my chute is almost 6 inches at the widest point of the flange. The curvature of my chute looks about the same as yours.  Maybe your machine has different snow throwing characteristics and does not need a blow-by kit. BTW, the blow-by kit flange is 16 inches long and is designed for the right side of the chute from an operators perspective. The right side only had the blow-by problem when the chute was cranked fully to the right. The snow used to pile up on my battery tray. The newer chutes have a couple of inches added to the flange width.

You replied to an earlier post I made about a 79 vintage ariens 824... could you please tell me what Briggs OHV engine you put on yours? Does it make an exact fit?
