Original Message   Jan 7, 2006 11:06 pm
Hi, I noticed last night when blowing some snow that my engine H70 tecumseh started sputtering and shooting black smoke from exhaust. It doesn't do it all the time. What could It be!

Thanks Denis

I've been told today that black smoke is cause by too rich setting? How many turns idle and air screws

needs?

Thanks

my engine is a H70 snow king engine

If this is a problem that just started,  & the blower ran ok previously, i doubt if its mixture adjustments.  but some  other things that could cause the problem your experiencing:

Dirty air filter

Choke may not be opening fully

float could be sticking part of the time

weak or dirty spark plug

I'll try this tomorrow by starting cleaning spark plug
