anyone know if it will be possible? the old motor is an hs40. The deck and auger are super robust for a 4hp. I got a cheap 12hp off of a newer style snowbeast. The new engine is single shaft but comes with all the pulleys. the old engine is double shaft. I am thinking with all the parts from both transmissions, I should be able to come up with something

It probably "can" be done but you could sell the used 12hp on eBay craiglsit etc. for enough to buy a brand new 7 or 8 hp snow engine, which would fit with much less work. Try and find the model # of the Ariens of the 68 Ariens.
