Original Message   Nov 15, 2005 6:57 pm
DOes anyone have an opinion on the advantages or disavantages of the Toro RTEK 2 cycle engine?  Could it be under  powered?  Does it have to run at high RPM'S  to develop it 's  Horsepower ?

I have the 7hp R*tek in a 2004 Toro 726te snowblower. It is easy to start both with the recoil and electric start. I use a 50:1 mix of 89 octane with Stihl Hi Performance 2-cycle oil. I use Sta-bil in the fuel and it's ready to go at a moments notice without checking oil. It has plenty of power to go through 14 inch drifts. It is certainly not underpowered for my needs. No real disadvantages. It has a noise and does smell a bit but not enough to bother me. I like it and would buy one again.  See my review of the machine on this site.
