I used to own a Craftman 11.5 -30in snowthrower and it did not throw snow as far as I needed it to ( I have a huge driveway with a large parking area at the rear) . I also had some reliabilty issues with the Craftsman. ( It broke three times on me and it was only 2 yrs old)                                                                                                                          We get alot of snow her in NewBrunswick and after much research I went out and purchased a new Ariens 11528 LE snow thrower.  It seems like a ruggedly built machine (heavy steel construction) unlike the Craftsman and it has alot of nice features to boot.                                                                                                                               What I really want to know is will it throw snow 49 feet like the specs say it will?

Thanks for the pics!!  I guess that answers my question! At least 50feet!  I guess the narrow steel chute really keeps the snow tight and throws far!

I forgot to ask one question,  did you put any sort of wax in your impeller and chute? Also  what year is your 11528? The chute rotation controls on yours look like the crank style.

No wax. model year 2003,or 4 not sure but will check. I am getting old and have  I.C.R.S. now.   (I Can't Remember $#%*).

Toolpig, I have a 11528 (2004) and last winter lived up to it's adversised 50' throw. I use canola oil cooking spray in the chute. Jonathan

I bought a bottle of some new product called  "Snow Slip" or something like that. It's a silicone based lubricant made to spray inside the impeller and chute. We'll find out this winter.

Is that snow-slip used on snow plows? I think I checked it out but the price scared me off. I didn't have any problems last winter with generic cooking spray.

Use silicone spray lubricant.

I made a mistake in the product name.  It's called  "Snow Shooter" and it's made by Spray Nine.

It says on the bottle it's a silicone based lubricant and you spray it on, let it dry and buff off.

I wonder ...if you want to use something...I don't...why not just buy silicone spray? I think it would cost less and do the same thing.   Or a 3in 1 oil type spray , it will help prevent rusting also.
