All I have to say is that I love my Swedish Rider. One of these days when someone tells me  what the real benefit of posting a review in the review section is, then I'll probably do it. Otherwise it's a best kept secret.

Well there are lotsa thoughts on Husqvarna models...we do sell almost the full line.  We didn't take the snowblowers though...thought they were too cheaply made.

Hi Sherri,

That's incredible.  If you weren't in the business, I would never have taken your comment seriously, and thanks for that warning.  As you mentioned, its the same around here,  many OPE dealers do carry their line of other equipment, but usually never have their snowblowers on the floor.  As much as I wanted it, I was just too concerned about problems with them that it may have been difficult to get good service on one.  That's why I was even more surprised seeing them at Loews.

At the OPE dealer in Dover, De, the 9027STE-XP was  $1199.00.
I figure that you are better off buying the 1027, putting on a 13 HP OHV for $400.00

Yeah, I thought of that too.  But a good OHV engine goes for much more than that when you order them with the lighting or charging alternator.  I figured closer to $700.00.

Not that they would be hard to get parts for or have that many problems.  A lot of the dealers around here sold them and we haven't heard of any troubles.  Thinking they were made by AYP, so the parts would be readily available.  They just wouldn't be the same quality as the Snapper, Simplicity or Ariens, but all right just the same.  (Simplicity and Snapper are hand in hand).  They would be better then the Murray's and MTD's we see here at the box stores, but there are all kinds to fill in the pricing gaps.

Just some thoughts.

Sherri

I still think this Husqvarna 9027 STE with it's 9 hp OHV engine is a very sweet machine.  I wish I was able to test one of these to see how well the trigger control steering worked.  This is the machine I would have wanted to put up against my Toro.  I wonder what these are going for these days?  It has everything except for electric start.  A bright red paint job would have done this one justice.  If there had been more dealers in New York that stocked them, this would have been my baby

BTW....just thought I'd do my duty to keep this thread going.  Frankly, it wouldn't be Abby's without it

Richie, If I were going to buy new right now, this is the make and model I was interested in. I was at a Deere dealership that sells them and he quoted $1300, but these guys are hardnosed. I was still seriously thinking of getting one but we just got the first statement on my sons college loan. Looks like I'll be pushing the green for a few years yet. Hi Kevin,

I still wish I was able to give it a run for its money.  The freewheel trigger steering components looked fairly simple on the parts diagrams and I liked the HP to width ratio.  Although, I just can't look at HP ratings the same anymore.

I was cleaning out my garage yesterday, had everything out in the open. A man walking by, stopped and then came  up my drive and said he needed a snowblower for his

place in West Virgina. Seems he was snowed in for 3 days, when we had the blizzard in January . Said he had a 300 foot long driveway at his WV place and had to wait 3

days for a guy to come and plow him out. Said he had 3 to 4 foot drifts. Turns out,  he was an Emergency room MD and a Ski fanatic., works 4 to 12 at the local hospital.

He offered me  $800.00 for my 10.5 MTD blower, I said sold! He left and was back in 30 minutes with a truck and $800.00 cash!!  So my blower is gone.

I think this should be a good time to buy or order a new one!!!

Fred,

Great price you got there  Let's see, I wonder which snowblower you are going to purchase  Anyway you look at it, this is when you're going to get the best deal on anything.  I'm sure you can still find what want since this winter has been a bit slow.  Besides, winter isn't over yet, so definately get yourself one now!

I just talked to my local OPE dealer who handles Husqvarna snowblowers.

He has a one Husqvarna 9027STE-XP has an (9 HP Tec OHV engine with electric start, which he would sell to me for $1000.00.

My question is,  shoud I buy it or wait till this fall and buy the 10527STE, which has the Tec 10.5HP L head on it for $1000 or a Toro 1028LXE?? ?   ?

 Please give me your thoughts!

Fred,

Many great choices you've put forward.  Well, when it comes to engines, they will all run basically the same due to the carburetors and you know I'm not impressed with any of them.  That Husky is going to be tough to beat for that price not to mention it has all the same controls as the Toro.  The actual difference is that the Toro control features are much easier to manipulate than any other snowblower made today. If you haven't actually gone to look at one, please do so before you make any final decisions.

As for waiting until fall of 2005 to purchase the 10 HP Husky, that I wouldn't do and you won't notice a difference between the engines, not to mention you're going to pay more for it.  For $250.00 less than I paid for my machine, the 9027 can still catch my eye.
