oil pumping out on mower deck?

I know this has been covered some time ago. please advise me on this. I was mowing with a used 4 hp tecumseh mower the other day for the first time. one of the banks was a bit steep. I noticed the oil was coming out and covering the whole deck! I stopped right away. oil level read about 1/3 low after that. was level. what caused this and any preventive ways to stop this? thanks in advance. Gene

This sounds a bit like what is hsappening with my old Toro........
My oil is coming out of the top, where you fill it and where the oil stick is......seems to do this after a warm restart, but seems to stop soon.
I do not do hills with it, but I do "lift up" the deck a lot when I trim around the trees........

hi- best I can tell is it came from the vent tube by carb. this only did this when I used it on the steep bank. used it 20 min on level ground and didn't do it?? thanks for any input Gene

I will get the numbers as soon as I can ( its at the Church) . it is a sears 4 hp 3n1 mower. tecumseh motor I think. about a 1990-95 year. thanks Gene
