4 new reviews added!
Original Message   May 30, 2005 1:22 am
MTD Edger, 32"mower, Echo blower, and Craftsman Yard Vac all added tonight! I will add my Ariens snow blower once I get a chance to try it out.
No review on the Homelight  line trimmer as it just gave me my first problem yesterday! It would not start for nothin' !!! (Otherwise it would have received a stellar review).
Troy built Power Washer will be next after it gets used a little more...

Hey Brian, I read your review of the bradley. I have noticed the same thing about the levers. I do one yard where I use my Exmark in the front and the Bradley in the back. Well i have to leave the exmark off the trailer because the bradley goes up front. By the time i get done with the back yard my hands are sore, I go to get back on  the exmark and man it feels like the levers are not hooked up lol. I thought maybe it was just because the bradley is old but I guess not. Let me know if you figure out anyway to make them easier to use I 'm trying to figure out something my self. I hope If anyone else reads this they dont get the idea this is a bad machine beacuse it is great as Brian said in his review. I'm just trying to finda a way to make them have a little less tension for the wife. On the Reverse It doesn't work well on either of my machines but that is just any belt driven mower. I guess if i want reverse i need to stop being stingy and buy a hydro lol.

Mike, I have CURED the hard grip problem 100%. I will post a picture later. Easy to do and reversable if you do not like it.

Marshall, yes the Homelite is back to normal. This thing has a starting proceedure and if you do not follow it...well you will curse like a drunken sailor! Basically you have to push the primer bulb 8 to 10 times, then put the choke to "3". Pull start it until it trys to start. Now move choke to "2" and repeate. Once it starts, move choke all the way in or "1" and you are off. This is CLEARLY printed on the handle...and is ment to be followed!

OK Mike, pictures should explain pretty well. Basically by adding length to the spring, it will make it easier to squeeze the grips. No loss of traction from this mod either...

Here I used a piece of band metal that came with aftermarket car radios...

In this picture, you can see how much I shortened the the amount of travel in the lever. To do this, dissconnect the brake first and set your drive, then when the throw is good, adjust your brakes so that they grab just before the lever hits the grip when you fully squeeze. (Hard brake)

Mike, post when you have seen this. I will then remove pictures...unless an admin thinks they should stay...it is not like these mowers are real popular

Mike, Sure did! It is soooo much better now! I could mow all day with my machine! I have not noticed any belt slippage but I don't mow in the rain.  I went to my dealer and compared my set up to a Xmark 36 belt drive and mine was just a little easier to squeeze.  This set up also make pulling back on the machine much better too!  (I rarely ever use reverse unless I have to back up a hill) K turns are a snap now too (keeps the inside tire from tearing the turf)  After this simple mod I don't think this machine could get any better!

One question for you, do you keep the saftey levers on top of the grips? A lot of my local LCO's either tape them down or they disconnect them all together.
