Maintenance of 828 MTD---B y Will
Original Message   Dec 28, 2004 6:40 pm
Each year I try to use this time of year to maintain my Mowers. Just took the deck off this lawn tractor, scraped and wirebrushed top and bottom. Primed it this afternoon, put a new belt that surrounds the three blade shafts and will paint it tomorrow. Also, will put new blades and just give it a good winter check up. This save the decks from rusting out so quickly. Just passing this thought on to all and wish you the best. Will---checking in as xydcxrwjj

Bill--it willout live you for the very reason you state. You take care of the Preventative maintenance. I know some that never change oit, just add as it gets older. At the Vo-tech, we would work on engines that the oil would not drain out the drain plug. Pitiful and they will come back and complain about the product.---Nice talking to you and may the almighty God give you many more years to use that equipment.---Your friend--Will

Will, what happpened to your username? Did you type the password into the username box? I go by AJ on many forums. I got the blades off and change oil yesterday. When I get them back from sharpening, I'll clean the deck and grease.

AJACE---ACTUALLY IT WAS AN ACCIDENT I GUESS YOU WOULD CALL IT. i LOOKED B ACK WHEN I STARTED ON THE OLD LAWNMOWER FORUM. THEY GAVE ME THE USERNAME OF "xycexrwjj and a Password of will. I typed that in the sign in part of this Abby forum and they immediately accepted it. I wish I could change it but so far Abby won,t answer my E-mails and I haven,t figured out what to do. Truefully, I had been days trying to get on the forum and I was so pleased I would have accepted any name or password. Incidently , you mentioned cleaning under the deck of your mower, well I hoisted my Murray (stanley) 52"and my wifes Model 690 MTD and pressure washed them underneath--tomorrow or the next day I will spray paint some primer paint.I do this just about every year and I have had no rust outs. May the Lord bless you and keep you now and always--your friend--Will

The first time I witnessed someone hoisting up a mower was when Craftsman came out to put in my new 17 HP engine. The old one was leaking oil. Happened just after my first run. He used a comealong, which I guess is short for a rachet puller. He told me to hook it to a tree, deck. I don't like remove the mower deck, especially when I've got it leveled just right.

AJace----a comealong is what I use. It does the job so well. Keep saying I am going to buy a Electric hoist but never do. I have a pecan tree next to one of my pumps---I hoist it lup, get my pressure washer and it does a job. To preclean under the decks , I shred my leaves in my orchard, the leaves plus small pencil sized limbs and sticks do a pretty good job.Take care and we will talk again---Will xometimes called xydcxrwjj
