Re: Simplicty 1224e, 1226e, or P1524e

I have the P1628e and I would not do without some kind of easy turn feature again. In my experience, a larger machine with easy turn is easier to use than a smaller without. It is true that easy turn will turn easier to the right than the left but it is not impossible or even difficult to turn to the left. Maybe you don't "need" the P1524e, but I'd do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for the 1428 if that fits your needs. Alternatively you could check out the John Deere and Snappers which are both made by Simplicity/Briggs. Perhaps you could find a model in the size/price range you are looking for from one of them with easy turn. Good luck!

I have the Simplicity P1628E and noticed the same thing. I figured it was normal wear. I am guilty of shifting on the fly... Don't know if that could be the reason.

Congrats on your purchase! Great price too! I purchased the same machine in Manchester NH last fall for $1950. Timing is everything. I’ve used it for a season now and absolutely love it. Enjoy!

I should qualify that and say that the NEW Simplicity Pros all have electric chute rotation...

The Simplicity Pro models all have electric chute rotation.  I have the 1628 and almost didn't purchase it due to concerns over the electric chute.  However, after one season of using it, I absolutly love it.  I would imagine that the switch would wear out before the motor as you mentioned.  How did you cover yours?
